BAS EAGLEHAWK ART SHOW FOR 2017
The BAS Art Exhibition was held in the Anglican Church Hall, Church St, Eaglehawk; a hall with bright natural light coming through the top window that showed off the art works beautifully during the day.
The exhibition which was open to the public between the hours of 10am and 4pm daily, was manned by BAS members, so visitors could talk to/ discuss art with practicing artists. Over the three days the exhibition was visited by 202 people. On display were 145 works of art; 89 framed and 56 unframed. Positive comments were made generally about the presentation of the exhibition, the high standard of work and the different styles of art on display.
The art work was judged by local artist Jeffrey Murrell who spoke about each winning work separately and his reasons why that work won an award. Awards were offered in four categories; Watercolour, Still Life, Other Medium and Oil / Acrylic with Highly Commended in each category.
Opening night was on Friday 17th between 7pm and 9 pm, with the official opening at 7.30pm; it was open to all members of the public and the evening was enjoyed by 44 people.
Local businesses, our sponsors, who support the Bendigo Art Society and donate prize money for the art awards are the Eaglehawk Medical Group, Eaglehawk Newsagency, William Farmer Funeral Directors and the Eaglehawk Dahlia and Arts Festival Committee. Fitzpatrick's Hardware supplied the floral arrangements.
The Bendigo Art Society welcomes new members; if you are interested, please contact us.
