BAS Eaglehawk Art Show 2014
On all accounts the show was a great success with a big crowd on opening night with an interesting opening address by Wes Vine. Seven paintings were sold on the night, with 14 by the end of the show. This was a vast improvement of other recent shows. Visitor numbers over the weekend were also excellent with 100 on Saturday and 69 on a cooler and showery Sunday.
Personally I must thank many who worked behind the scenes. Dave Richards, Chairman and Laurie Preston, Treasurer Eaglehawk Dahlia and Arts Festival, whose monthly committee meetings I attended, Noel Claridge, Principle Eaglehawk Secondary College, especially his staff and students, who cancelled music and drama classes while BAS occupied their space. And what a great space it was for an Art Show!
Thanks to Treasurer Pauline Robinson whose work begins long before a show and continues long after it is over. Glenys Gaston, her computer skills produced the entry forms, catalogues and award certificates etc. All at a time that she was not particularly well. Heather McKean and her team who curated the show rather than just hang any painting anywhere. Joe Jakitsch, Norm Close, and Alan McGrath and the other BAS “blokes” who loaded the display stands in and out of the hall, members who sat on the door duty throughout the weekend; and of course our 37 members who entered 108 paintings.
